There goes my future monetization strategy.
I kept seeing all these post about how Substack was the next great frontier to building your audience and monetization. On the surface it makes sense, write about stuff that people want to read about, make it interesting and then they can follow you for all your future posts. Then one day, charge for subscribing and it’s an additional revenue stream. I liked the idea of it b/c all of the framework is already in place and you can just use their site to publish. My hope was to do this on there and build up a catalog of info and fails that would be valuable reading and charge for it. That was the idea anyway.
Well, I basically posted my Intro entry on there and it was flagged and suspended for possibly violating their spam and phishing policy. Which is kind of crappy b/c I did genuinely want to write about everything there and provide a resource but I guess it was viewed as anything but.
So I pivoted and bought this domain name and signed up for hosting with WordPress instead so I could at least control what I can control. But that also means unfortunately I had to pay for the site and hosting to get started.
We start the journey in the hole.
