Welp. Another learning lesson.

I saw a two posts online today with the exact same formula:

Sit and point at a screen that says ‘Marriott will pay you $10k/month’ for you to promote their hotels and you get paid an affiliate payment when they book through your link.

I thought this would be an easy one for me because I travel so much for work, I’ve become very familiar with the Marriott brand. There aren’t always Hyatt’s in the cities I go to but there is always a Courtyard or Residence Inn no matter where I go.

Well it turns out you have to go through an application process to be approved as an affiliate. Which makes sense b/c I’m sure Marriott would want to vet people who are promoting their brand vs a newbie who just opened their account yesterday with no followers. They aren’t passing out the links willy nilly here.

I don’t believe I’ll be approved for that one.
